Boy Scouts transforms garden for fall planting

Ryan Opila poses after completing his Eagle Scout project.

Members of Troop 644 work in the garden.

After weeks of planning and gathering tools and materials, we began the project on Saturday, September, 15th. I arrived early
Saturday morning with my volunteers and immediately set them to work, turning over the soil in the beds and adding a new layer of mulch to put nutrients back into the soil for the next round of plants. They worked had all day, always looking for something else to help out with and never complaining. It was late afternoon by the time we decided to call it a day. However, by that time, the garden was a changed place. All the beds were neatly tilled and mulched and the berm was weed-less and clean. I am very proud of the work my troop and I were able to a
ccomplish and am happy to be a part of Growing Together and all that it does for our community.
